I don’t know where to start, to start by laughing at my self for thinking that am immune to been scammed( that it only happens to others and not to me), or by cursing the day I read an article featured by msn about the Toy of the Year 2009, Zhu Zhu Hamster Toys. For me reading how Zhu Zhu Hamster Toys were the hottest toy these Christmas holiday and how every parent with a child 4 years or older should buy these Zhu Zhu Hamsters as presents, was captivating not because I have any kids or because I was looking for any gift Ideas for my nieces and nephews, but because am an entrepreneur. The words like Hottest and sold out stuck out the most, and as a starting entrepreneur with a small gift store on ebay(www.stores.ebay.com/CHRISTMASCARLOSS) I imagined how finding a good supplier of these toys would mean to me. |
There is a scammer out there.
As would any online entrepreneur do, I activated my alibaba account, and typed the words Zhu Zhu Hamster, The search didn’t yield much, it only yielded two results, one company in Malaysia and the other in Hong Kong. I emailed both requesting to get there quotes and MOQ. It was amazing to get a reply from the company in Malaysia; the quotes they gave me were great but the minimum MOQ was 100 Zhu Zhu Mr. Squiggle’s hamsters( brown), that meant I would, end up spending more that 2000 usd and their only mode of payment was by bank transfer. I was not going to risk sending that kind of money to a company that was not verified by Alibaba or risk giving my bank info to anyone. So I returned to Alibaba to try and contact the company in Hong Kong which was selling the Num Nums hamsters (Gray). These time when I run the search for ZHU ZHU hamsters a third company popped up, Treasure Toys Limited, in Ohio USA.That was I was looking for, someone in the USA. It’s easier to deal with someone here than anyone in Malaysia.
